Privacy Note

No accounts, and your data stays in your browser.

No accounts

There is no sign-up and no login. SmartBite does not know who you are.

Your data stays in your browser

Your Kitchen Profile, cart, saved meals and photos are kept in this browser's storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). They are not sent to a SmartBite server. Clearing your browser data deletes them.

Profile files

Save profile file makes a file on your device with your Kitchen Profile, where you shop, your products, saved meals and cart. It is made in your browser and never uploaded. Your API key goes in only if you tick it. Open profile file reads one back, in this browser only.

Your API key

Your API key is stored only in this browser. It never leaves the browser except to the provider you chose in your Profile (api.anthropic.com for Anthropic), when you make a meal.

What goes to the AI provider

When you make a meal, your craving, form and Kitchen Profile are sent from your browser to the provider you chose (Anthropic by default) to write the ideas and the recipe. That provider's own terms apply to that request.

What goes to the SmartBite engine

The form, your Kitchen Profile, the picked idea and the recipe go to the SmartBite engine to compute packs, macros and leftovers. It sends the result back and keeps nothing. Your key is never sent there.

Barcode lookups

When you press Look up in Edit product, your browser asks Open Food Facts for that one barcode. Only the barcode is sent, with your IP address and browser details like any web request. Nothing about you, your profile or your meals goes there. Open Food Facts data is under the ODbL licence.

Math in code

Ideas and recipes are AI-generated. Packs, macros and leftovers are computed in code, not by the model.

Hosting and logs

SmartBite is hosted on Vercel; the engine runs in Frankfurt, in the EU. Like any web host, Vercel keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, page, time) to run and protect the service. Images and fonts are served from the same site. When the engine fails, it logs an error id and the request's size, never what you sent.

Visit counts

SmartBite counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies: a visitor is a hash of the request that resets every day, so no one can follow you across days or sites. A meal you made is counted as one page, without its name.

Your rights

SmartBite keeps no data about you, so there is nothing to look up or delete on our side. To delete your own data, clear this site's storage in your browser. For Vercel's logs, see Vercel's privacy policy.
